SHIPPING
Once
we know what wood you want to order and have a
zip code, we can quickly get you an accurate
shipping price. We get the best pricing
for Small & Medium pieces with U.P.S. Ground
& U.S. Postal Priority. For Large
pieces, we get the best pricing with FedEx
Ground. There
is a point due to dimensions where a piece of driftwood
becomes too large to ship U.S. Postal. Then you hit a point
where the driftwood is too large to go with
UPS/FedEx. The top end
threshold with U.P.S./FedEx is a little
larger. This is when a
piece of driftwood becomes an Extra-Large piece. If
a piece is listed under the Extra-Large section of the web
site, the only way to ship it is on a
tractor trailer. At that point we get on the phone
with the trucking companies and find the best price to
ship the driftwood to your neck of the woods. We use
Southeastern Freight, Wilson Trucking, Clear Lane Freight,
& Daylight Transport for shipping the big-dogs.
We can, have, and will ship to any state in the
U.S.A. Canada and U.S. territories such as Puerto
Rico can be shipped to as well. Things get really
complicated with customs when shipping overseas. We
have found shipping driftwood overseas to be a
nightmare. Nothing is impossible, but when you have
to spend a month on phone calls, paperwork,
certifications, and inspections to ship one piece of
driftwood, you have to draw the line. We are not in
the shipping business and are not looking to make money on
shipping. We make
our money selling driftwood. Our cost is
your cost on shipping. Remember, there
is no such thing as "Free Shipping."
Our competitors that offer free shipping jack
the price of the driftwood up to cover their
shipping costs. For those of
you that are in a hurry we can always get you
Overnight/Priority/2nd day pricing if
necessary.
Shipping is the toughest part of this business. For
the larger pieces of wood, there is no easy way to do
it. It is impossible to turn a profit in this
business if we pay shipping. We could double the
price of the piece of wood to cover shipment like some of
our competitors, or we can pass onto you our shipping
costs. Charging separate for each gives you the
option of the much lower price for pick-up orders. So, with that being taken into consideration,
we pass
our shipping costs onto the buyer. Shipping for
bulky heavy pieces can almost double the price you
pay. It is what it is... We are always on the
lookout for less expensive ways to ship and we are always
open to suggestions. We are located in Kill Devil
Hill, North Carolina. For those of you that vacation
on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, we can hold
purchased pieces of wood for pick-ups. We do offer
delivery service(by the truck & trailer load) for bulk
purchases. Shipping prices on web site are based on
East Coast Shipping. For those of you not located on
the east coast, we can get your shipping cost a.s.a.p.
